Quote about Children

“A child miseducated is a child lost.”

  1. I enjoyed that you shared this quote on your blog. I find it a shame that a lot of our children today are in fact lost. The school system here in California has become bogged down with Assessment Tests to prove that teachers are in fact doing their jobs. However, I feel that the people who put these tests in place are not noticing that teachers now "teach to the test" and that children are falling behind in the most basic fundamentals, such as reading and writing. Sadly, I have heard of story after story of children being pushed through the system, unable to read and write, but somehow get a high school diploma!
I wonder if JFK had lived, would things be different in the school systems of today?

  2. I like your quote that you have chosen to discuss. I totally agree with the quote, because I have witnessed first hand how children were in class and had not a clue as to what the teacher was teaching, the work they were supposed to be doing, nor did this child pose any questions. Yet in still, at the end of the year; the child was passed on to the next grade level.

I think the teachers should be held to a higher accountability level when producing grades and test scores. I think that a front office staff member (assitant principal or other member) should have to come in and observe while evaluations and such as being administered.

I also feel that it's partial of the parents fault, because they do not speak up about why there child is being pushed through the system and can barely count to 10. I think most parents are afraid of and in denial of having their child classified with any type of developmental delays.

Thank You for for bringing such an important quote to the forefront.
